PERFORMER OF THE YEAR CONTEST 2007

"As Natural as playing ball"
Or playing ball naturally, however you like to say it, these guys can do it.

The Brisbane Blues Band "Natural Ball" showed that they had what it takes to win the title of the Performer of the Year 2007 on Tuesday 4-9-2007 at the Jubilee Hotel in Fortitude Valley.

This band made up of five members competed against some of the best musicians in South East Queensland and very successfully came out on top.

Natural Ball are Mark Gibbons (harmonica, vocals), Craig Pettingill (drums), Hiro Takenaka (lead guitar), "Blind Dog" Donnie Burke (lead guitar, vocals), Mick Luciow (bass guitar).

Despite the fact that the weather was less than perfect, a lot of Blues lovers went along to watch and were treated to some fine music. The other fine bands were

Peter Steel and The Painkillers
Michael Turner's Blues In Session
Panga and The True Blues
Blonde On Blue
Funk Street

Natural Ball are the recipients of the winning prize which is a performance at the Australian Blues Music Festival in Goulburn February 7-10 2008 where they will perform to an audience of hundreds of Blues fans from around the country, witness the Chain Awards and meet VIP's from the Australian music scene.

Coral Saunders the organiser of the contest says "the effort involved in putting this inaugural event together for the Blues Association South East Queensland was insignificant compared to the success of the whole night and well worth it. This will be an annual event and we look forward to helping next year's winner achieve goals in their musical career too".

Plans are underway already putting everything in place for next year's contest for the BASEQ Peformer Of The Year 2008.
